New Regional Representatives’ Postcode Areas & Regional Representatives Contact details

New Changes to Regional Representatives’ Postcode Areas offers Greater Choice and Flexibility to BLS Members, new for 2008, in line with NHS Regions!

We are pleased to announce that following consultation with our Regional Representatives, a proposal was put forward by our administrative staff to make some changes to our existing system of region coding. We are delighted that the Committee members have voted and agreed that these changes will now go ahead.

All Regional Representatives have been allocated a region to cover, in line with the NHS regions. These regions are designated by Postcode. This will mean that BLS members will now be able to simply look up the first two letters of their postcode to ascertain who their Regional Representative is. Currently each region is recognised for example: E2 Yorkshire Region covered by Tracy Green Regional Representative. Within this region contains various postcodes which coincide with the NHS regions. This will not affect current regional representatives as they already cover these areas within their current allocated regions.

However, we anticipate that some BLS members may wish to be represented by someone more geographically convenient to them, which may differ from their workplace. This means that simply by contacting the Regional Representative you would like to represent you, you can attend their meetings, stay in contact with them and your interests will be represented by them.

We feel that with so many members and staff involved directly or indirectly with the National Health Service, it makes total sense for our regions to be in line with theirs. We believe this will increase efficiency in the long term, as well as offer greater choice and flexibility to our members. New membership numbers will be generated in the near future, which will show members’ postcodes and region, and with these members will be able to access the website and login as they did previously. Newsletters and correspondence from us at the BLS will be far easier to generate and therefore we can ensure that you continue to receive all your membership benefits in a timely and efficient manner. We have secured funding to make available to members some excellent new services on our website, such as membership renewal, where you will be automatically e-mailed reminders and given details of courses or information which may be of interest to you.

Please do take the time to look up your Regional Representative on our colour coded list and Regional Representative contact list which ties in with the NHS regional map shown too. We have also added a list of our Regions Representatives contact details for you to download We hope you agree with us that this is a much more logical and easy way to access your Regional Representative.

If any Members or Regional Representatives have any concerns or queries please email Anna Rayner at info@thebls.com where I will endeavour to assist.

Jane Sullivan, Anna Rayner (BLS Administrative Team)
